We don’t have to necessarily follow trends but if you are looking for inspiration to refresh your footwear then this list could be what you need.
1 – DITCH THOSE CHUNKY WHITE DAD SNEAKERS!
For starters, I am done with chunky dad sneakers. I think the trend has run its course. They are still in my closet but I am slowly gravitating towards the streamlined 80’s inspired sneakers. I am also loving colorful sneakers rather than the old white dad sneakers. I think a pop of color using footwear is fun, especially since I wear more color these days.
2 – COMBAT BOOTS ARE FIRE!
I copped a pair of tactical boots earlier this year and as someone who is not exactly athletic and is the furthest from being on a battle field; the heavy black boots gave me a sense of power and definitely made me feel more confident. Combat boots can be styled with mini skirts, blazer dresses or wide trousers – a surprisingly versatile shoe style!
3 – KNEE-HIGH BOOTS ARE LOVE
The fashion crowd on Instagram (or Pinterest) donned in knee-high boots is enough evidence that it is 2020’s must-have shoe! And I bet it will continue well into 2021. Thigh high boots – a former winter staple, has stepped down from it’s throne this season making way to knee-highs – specifically rubber welly boots just grazing the knees. They have been styled with warm blazers, shorts, frilly dresses and even tucked into jeans / trousers.
4 – STRAPPY SANDALS
Amina Muaddi along with Fenty by Rihanna, came in full force with a new collection of strappy sandals and even a pair of lace-up pumps. Strappy sandals and heals give a delicate look that helps to soften any look. Pair an oversized blazer with a pair of strappy heals to create a glamorous yet soft look.
5- CHUNKY LOAFERS
I have been pinning so many images of chunky loafer looks to my Pinterest board (sadly haven’t gotten around to purchase any because of my indecisiveness!) Chunky loafers are definitely replacing the chunky sneakers and I am not one to complain! They give a modern yet classic look to your casual outfits.
