What is the first image that comes to your mind when someone says ‘denim on denim’? To me, it is the infamous red carpet moment with Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake! Pairing denim pieces can easily turn tacky, if not done right – which is why using it tastefully will not only turn heads for the right reasons but will also make you feel great.
For this look I paired together casual / street inspired pieces. The cropped black denim jacket with hoodie, from Forever21 was cozy and perfect when I travel – since I easily get cold a denim jacket seems just about right. The cropped and oversized look with its utility details like pockets and metal buttons appealed to me a lot. The woolen hoodie (that can be detached if needed) and the frayed hem added more texture as well. I used two main pieces to give the overall denim on denim impression. My second piece was the ice-blue denim jeans with asymmetric fly. I think denim on denim can be done in different ways but it is always ideal to pair contrasting colors or create a tonal contrast if you pair blues.
With accessories, I went for gold necklaces and mismatched earrings. Lately, I have been loving the mismatched earrings trend because it adds so much to one’s style. I can always have some fun with earrings and pair different charms or studs. And turn a very basic outfit to an interesting one, using just earrings. I have noticed that the style conscious crowd always dons multiple rings – that too with a lot of care. From large cocktail rings to thin ones, I find it rather intriguing how each person pairs their rings.
