Days after Alexander Wang took a final bow to his strongest Balenciaga collection in three years, Kering announced the new artistic director of collections as Demna Gvsalia. The designer from Vetements (meaning clothes in French) already has a cult following of Parisian youth, for his unpretentious reinvented street wear. Gvsalia has mastered the art of recycling daily wear to designer wearables, his latest collection presented in Paris had some unconventional models walk his runway: Russian street wear designer Gosha Rubchinskiy and stylist Lotta Volkova Adam to name a couple. Gvsalia’s attitude to fashion is genuine and the strong cultural significance in his creations make us wait impatiently for his debut collection for Balenciaga.
