VOGUE DELIVERS DIVERSITY WITH NEW COVER FOR MAY ISSUE

Last month, Edward Enninful, editor-in-chief of British Vogue wrote about the new cover for the month of May on vogue.co.uk. Featuring ‘9 Trailblazing Models’, the cover makes Vogue history by casting a set of racially diverse models. Models like Radhika Nair from India, South Sudanese model Adut Akech, Latina model Paloma Elsesser and Halima Aden (the first hijab-wearing model to front a British Vogue in 101 years!) had the internet buzzing.
With this stunning cover, Enninful is delivering one of his promises as the editor-in-chief for British Vogue. “When I say diversity, I want to be clear that it is never just about black and white for me,” he wrote to Vogue’s website. “It’s about diversity across the board — whether that’s race, size, socio-economic background, religion, sexuality. That’s what I want to celebrate with this cover.”
Shot by his longest-standing collaborator and friend Craig McDean. The photographs were taken at his loft studio in Manhattan and the styling features a color palette of khakis, creams and blacks. Enninful wrote that he wanted the models to feel “Strong, powerful and poised for exciting futures”.
